Dynamic Category-Based Discount Automation
This feature enables the automatic application of discounts based on product categories directly within the POS interface. Once a discount percentage is configured for a category, the system dynamically applies it whenever a product from that category is selected during a sale.
Configurable Discount Rules per POS Category
Each POS product category can be configured with its own unique discount percentage and optional promotional message. The configuration is flexible you can enable or disable discounts for specific categories and even update them anytime based on ongoing offers or marketing campaigns.
Real-Time Discount Visibility in POS and Receipts
Discounts applied through the system are instantly visible in the POS order line, giving the cashier and customer immediate clarity on the offer being applied. If a message is configured for the category, it appears under the discounted product line, enhancing customer communication.

1.) Enable POS Category Base Dynamic Discount
This screenshot shows how to activate the POS Category Base Dynamic Discount feature from the Point of Sale settings in Odoo. By simply checking the POS Category Base Discount option, you enable the system to automatically apply discounts based on product categories in the POS interface.
2.) Configure Discount for a POS Product Category (Chairs)
This screen demonstrates how to configure a category-specific discount. In this example, the Chairs category has a 10% discount applied, along with a custom message - Special Discount on Chairs. Once configured, every product under this category automatically inherits the same discount during POS transactions, making it effortless to manage promotional offers without editing each product individually.
3.) Configure Discount for Another Category (Desks)
Here, the Desks category is configured with a 5% discount and no custom message. This flexibility allows businesses to apply varied discount rates across different product categories.
4.) Automatic Discount Application in POS (Chairs Category)
In this screenshot, when a product from the Chairs category (Office Chair Black) is selected in the POS interface, the configured 10% discount is automatically applied. The special discount message Special Discount on Chairs is also displayed directly under the product line, providing immediate visual feedback to the cashier and customer.
5.) Multiple Category Discounts Applied in POS
This example illustrates multiple category-based discounts in action. Both Chairs and Desks products are added to the POS order - each receives its respective discount (10% for Chairs and 5% for Desks).
6.) Discount Displayed on POS Receipt
The final screenshot shows the POS receipt reflecting the applied discounts. The product lines display their corresponding discount messages and percentages, while the total discount amount is clearly listed at the bottom of the receipt. This transparent display ensures customer trust and makes it easy to verify promotional discounts during checkout and after purchase.
